He is notable for being one of the most popular characters created by Dingo Pictures, alongside Yee from Abenteuer im Land der Dinosaurier. Both characters originate from the same studio and creative source, which later became infamous online for spawning the wildly viral Yee meme.

Wabuu is voiced by Armin Drogat in the original German versions. In the English dubs of most films, he is voiced by Don F. Jordan. He is typically depicted hopping energetically through the forest, often compared to a kangaroo, while singing his recognizable signature song.
